I was born in Mt Eden, went to Auckland Grammar and now live in Epsom with my wife and our four children. Before politics, I worked as a historian and biographer and wrote 10 books about New Zealand’s history and economic development. Outside Parliament, I’m a pianist, a second dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do and still enjoy turning out for the Parliamentary cricket team.
